Lead Free Certification From NSL Laboratories

Position Of Ametherm on Lead Free Thermistors and WEEE/RoHS Compliance

June 3, 2004

In anticipation of international Laws and regulations related to the elimination of lead in electronic components, Ametherm has initiated a project to investigate and evaluate and qualify the use of lead free solder for tinning of the leads. The use of lead in electronic ceramic and in high temperature solder alloys containing more than 85% lead is exempted from Article 4.1 of WEEE/RoHS.

Currently the total amount of lead contained in the product is0.003mg / m 3. The Exposure limit (Air) is 0.05mg/m3, as defined by FED-OSHA/PEL. This translates to less than 0.007% of the total weight of lead in plating of the leads as a percentage of the total weight of component. The WEEE/ RoHS directive has mandated that companies must supply lead free product by July 1 st 2006.

Ametherm is currently Evaluating an alloy of 95.5% Tin, 4.0% Silver and 0.5% Copper, to replace the standard tinning of SN63.

The evaluation will be completed and samples will be sent to our customers by October 2005.

Ametherm has been RoHS compliant since June 19th, 2005.
